A website
dedicated to all the students of history
You may be asking yourself why I called the site "He who forgets will be destined to remember." It is a quote
that defines my teaching philosophy of history. So what does it mean? It is a simple way of explaining that history
tends to repeat itself. Think about it, if we focus on learning history the first time in class we can only benefit
our futures from the lessons taught. For example, we can learn about how the Stock Market crashed in 1929 causing the
Great Depression, and use that lesson to prevent it from happening again. However,
if we decided to push the information aside, or "forget" about it, then you might be doomed to make the same mistakes as others
we studied. Like if we choose not to learn the content then there is a chance that another Stock Market crash might
occur. Maybe it won’t crash again in the nation, but it could be possible
for your business to crash or a crash in your personal finances. The quote plays
such an important part of me that I actually made a giant poster of the quote over my chalk board. It serves as a reminder
to me and my students that history can repeat itself. Maybe not exactly the same way, but we can certainly learn the
lessons from others mistakes and fortunes.
